The process
How selling your business works
A clear, guided route from first thought to completed sale. BuyMyBiz manages the sale professionally rather than simply advertising your business — with an experienced adviser beside you and a modern platform keeping everything in order.
1. Free sale appraisal
Create your free account and tell us about your business — what it does, how it performs, and why you are considering a sale. Your progress saves automatically, so you can complete it in your own time. Every appraisal is reviewed personally by an experienced adviser.
2. Saleability review
You receive a clear score out of 100 showing how saleable your business is today, with the factors that help or hinder a sale explained in plain English — plus practical improvements that could increase your price.
3. Introductory meeting
Every seller is offered a telephone or online meeting with their adviser to talk through the appraisal, ask questions and decide whether to proceed. There is no obligation at any point.
4. Tailored proposal
If we believe we can sell your business, you receive a tailored written proposal setting out the recommended asking price, the marketing approach and our terms. We do not take on businesses we do not believe will sell.
5. Preparation
Your adviser helps you gather the information buyers will ask for — accounts, leases, contracts and more — using the secure document checklist in your account. This happens in manageable stages rather than one large last-minute request. Good preparation shortens the sale and protects the price.
6. Confidential marketing
We prepare a professional profile of your business and market it confidentially to our registered buyer network and the leading business-for-sale channels. Opportunities are presented anonymously, we research and approach suitable buyers directly, and your identity and detailed information are released only once a buyer is qualified and under confidentiality.
7. Viewings, offers and negotiation
Your adviser handles enquiries, arranges and manages buyer meetings, and negotiates offers on your behalf — keeping you informed through regular updates in your account and by email.
8. Through to completion
Once an offer is agreed, we work with the buyer, solicitors and accountants through due diligence to completion, chasing progress so the sale does not stall.
